Respect Diversity Symbol Exhibit Scheduled at Omniplex
Kirkpatrick Science and Air Space Museum at Omniplex has scheduled the Respect Diversity Symbol Exhibit for April 12 – May 12, 2005. The exhibit features hundreds of collaborative works of art and poetry by students of all ages. Young people throughout Oklahoma are celebrating diversity in creative ways, as they explore issues of cultural diversity, human rights, and global peace through the arts.

Ponca City Assembly Led By RDF President
"Picture driving up from Texas, down from Kansas, across from Arkansas and Colorado and not seeing a single human being in this state. That’s what 6 million is. That is the number of Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust.” With this statement, Mike Korenblit gave a visual image of a number that is next to impossible to imagine to eighth grade students at East Middle School this week.

Contest Launch by First Lady Kim Henry
First Lady Kim Henry will launch the third annual statewide Respect Diversity Art & Poetry Contest at Quail Creek Elementary School on September 8, 2004. During an assembly at 9:00 a.m., Mrs. Henry will read the book The Crayon Box That Talked to the student body, and then a Respect Diversity author and artist will guide students in each grade level to write poetry and to co-create a three dimensional work of art that will be entered in the contest.

Respect Diversity President Featured Speaker
Michael Korenblit, President of the Respect Diversity Foundation (RDF) and author of Until We Meet Again, spoke at the Oklahoma Bar Association’s week-long, Summer Teacher In-Service “Teaching Cultural Diversity” PACE XV, at OCU. He related the Holocaust to issues of today such as bullying and religious intolerance.

Tulsa/Tiberias/Together (T3) Bridging Diversity
Teachers and principals from Tulsa schools and Tiberias, Israel participated in a Respect Diversity Holocaust Art Education workshop during the Tulsa Jewish Federation Education Bridge Project, at B’nai Emunah Synagogue. Carver Middle School was among the Tulsa schools represented. Participants learned about the work of artists, writers, and musicians who survived the Holocaust. Created during the workshop were two multimedia art collages, titled T3 Bridging Diversity, that are colorful collaborations by the teachers and principals.
