"Join Us At the Fire"

Kindergarteners and 3rd graders from Washington Irving ES worked as study buddies for weeks to create the collage titled "Join Us at the Fire." First, the students discussed the thought provoking poem, "The Cold Within."  From discussions, a new ending was written and the children brainstormed and sketched their visions of the poem's new endings. Combining their ideas, the single collage composition of hands warming at the fire was created.
