Art Therapist 

Main Focus:

Sharon Heath is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist.  She has presented internationally and nationally on the subject of art therapy with a focus on the benefits of creative self-expression in the reduction of trauma related symptomotology.  She has taught undergraduate and graduate level art therapy coursework and supervised mental health professionals, candidates for both their LPC licensure and art therapy certifications.  

Background:

Ms. Heath has contracted with numerous agencies throughout Oklahoma to serve as an art therapy consultant and group therapist.  Of special note was her experience as a Recovery Specialist for the Oklahoma City Public Schools FEMA project following the bombing of the Murrah Building. For the past fifteen years she has served as a Clinical Art Therapist and Triage Specialist for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and offered counseling to consumers of mental health of all ages.  

Prior to becoming an art therapist, Sharon taught as a public school art educator. A culmination of her experience evolved into her self published book Art@tudes: Mastering the Art of Your Attitude in 2002 which is available in Oklahoma City and Houston.  Ms. Heath's private practice, Art and Soul, is located in Norman, Oklahoma
