Dana Helms
The Upside Down Artist
Background:
Dana Helms is an artist who is turning the art world upside down!! She looks at an object and draws it upside down. This method teaches the individual to see things in a new perspective. It literally shuts down the left hemisphere and allows the right to take over. Things will never look the same to you again after this demonstration.
Dana began drawing when she picked up a “How to Draw” book from the library at the age of 12. She sold her first piece of work at the age of 12 and half years old to a magazine for three dollars. That encouraged her to continue to study art. After graduating from Shawnee High School, she attended the University of Oklahoma in 1982. It was there she learned to turn artwork upside down. She decided to teach students of all ages how to draw this way. None of her students have been disappointed.
