Pat developed and managed the Great Shape Program For Large Women in which 1500 women participated. She developed health education materials supporting the Health at Every Size perspective on weight and health and conducts professional education programs. Regional Health Education Consultant, Kaiser Permanente No. CA Region from 1989-1997.
Pat is the co author of GREAT SHAPE; The First Fitness Guide for Large Women (1988).
Pat is a registered nurse with a masters degree in psychology with 20 years experience as a public health educator in a variety of women's health and federally funded community-based health organizations.
Current projects:
Project manager, WomanCare Plus, a UCB based research study aimed at reducing barriers to health care for large women.
Program development consultant on the California statewide project: Children and Weight: What Schools and Communities Can Do.
Program Development and Training Consultant to the YMCA of the East Bay to integrate nutrition, wellness and size acceptance into all existing and new programs.
Advisory Board member, The Body Positive, a non-profit organization producing eating disorders prevention videos and training materials for community coalitions.
Main Focus
Founder/Director of Connections Women's Health Consulting. Pat speaks to national and international conferences for both lay audiences and health professionals on issues of weight and health, nutrition and eating disorders prevention, fitness and body image, weight prejudice and health care access.
