BACKGROUND
I bring to the table 30 years of experience as a professional artist expanding each of the mediums I work in beyond the limits of my original studies.
I was an Intaglio printmaker for 15 years teaching variable editions of etching, collagraph, and monoprints and also created three lithographs while working in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Frank Howell in his printmaking studio. I have been busy producing art and teaching art workshops in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Indiana, Oklahoma and two foreign countries Germany and Mexico for the last 20 years. After painting realism for 25 years, in 2000 I attended Arizona State University to study sculpture and continue today with abstract assemblages. Some of the samples of my sculpture are maquettes intended for public works. www.sharonjmontgomery.com
Also I have been working and teaching classes as a CranioSacral Therapist seeing clients in New Mexico and Ensenada, Mexico Baja while teaching with a translator. I have been writing and meditating since 1988 and studying Vedic Scriptures. While in Mexico for five years I studied Vajrayana Buddhism with the translator of the Medicine Buddha in Ensenada, Mexico Baja.
MAIN FOCUS
1. Children's sculpture (public works for children's sculpture gardens, wellness centers, hospitals, and playground equipment)
2. Writing and illustrating children's books
3. Creative drawing art book for teaching life skills
4. Animation for The Lollipop Man and his character friends
OFFERINGS
1. Lectures using art as a healing tool.
2. Sharing my own life's experiences in developing the images in my works of art. Example: The mirrored Plexiglas in my sculpture represents the light in auras and the mirror images of ourselves that we attract to teach us wisdom in the mystery of life.
I extend boundaries and expose the emotional content of life while revealing the secrets within my works of art. I believe art evokes the inner peace as well as the turmoil of life. My lectures mentor art students to develop skills of visual truth. I think in value and produce in color. I concentrate on light, dark and middle ground changing to give each value a turn to be the most important.
